Guwahati: In a horrific incident, a teacher has allegedly thrashed a girl student in Nagaon district of Assam.
The incident took place in Shingimari Mohammad Ali Higher Secondary School in Rupohihat of the district.
The accused teacher has been identified as Ashraful Alam.
According to reports, when the victim went to Ashraful to inform him about the principal being absent, he allegedly beat and thrashed her following which the student fell seriously ill.
Locals and the parents of the students allege that the teacher was drunk and often comes to school in a drunken state. Additionally, the teacher has been accused of abusing students on numerous occasions in the past.
While addressing to reporters, the girl student stated, “I went to the teacher to inform him of the principal’s absence and he thrashed me and beat me up for no reason.”
Meanwhile, the family of the girl student has filed a FIR with the Rupahi police station demanding that the teacher be punished.
