Assam: Teenager Arrested in Chirang for Pro-Pakistan Social Media Post
Guwahati: A nineteen-year-old student in Assam’s Chirang district has been apprehended by police following allegations of uploading a video on social media that expressed support for Pakistan.
The individual in custody has been identified as Ariful Ali, a resident of Bhaoraguri, which falls under the Bijni jurisdiction of the district. His arrest came after local authorities were made aware of content circulating on his Instagram account that sparked considerable concern.
Preliminary reports from police indicate that the video shared by Ali included elements that appeared to be in praise of Pakistan. This development has triggered a wave of unease, particularly given the current climate and the delicate nature of online expressions related to nations considered adversarial.
At the time of his arrest, Ariful Ali was in the midst of appearing for his Higher Secondary final examinations. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the motivation behind the social media post and to explore any potential connections or influences that may be relevant to the case.
