Guwahati, 23rd February: Tensions soared in North Salmara, Bongaigaon district, as a dispute erupted over eviction measures undertaken by the administration. The incident occurred when a woman attempted to assault Ashish Mondal, a Mandal, before the situation escalated further.
The administration’s eviction efforts faced opposition from locals, who held Mondal responsible for the action. Angered residents verbally abused Mondal and forcefully expelled him from the area. As tensions flared, residents obstructed Mandal and administration personnel from executing the eviction, barricading their homes along the main road.
Police intervened and dispatched its units to the scene to quell the unrest and ensure the safety of Mandal. The confrontation caught three families in Khagarpur Tilapara off guard.
