Assam: Three Dead, One Injured in Fatal Collision on NH-17 Near Dhubri

Dhubri, Assam: Tragedy struck early on November 23 as a car traveling from Gauripur to West Bengal collided with a stationary truck on National Highway 17 near Garerhat in Dhubri district’s Agomani area.

The victims were en route to Cooch Behar to attend the Rashmela festival. The collision claimed the lives of Dhananjay Roy, Bikas Kalita, and Ram Roy, while Khanindra Roy sustained critical injuries.

Local residents swiftly transported the victims to Dhubri Medical College, where the three deceased were pronounced dead on arrival. Khanindra Roy is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that poor visibility and speeding were likely factors. The incident also caused a temporary traffic disruption on the highway as police worked to clear the scene.

Efforts are ongoing to ensure safer travel conditions on the highway in the wake of this tragic incident.
