Assam: Three New Vice-Chancellors Sworn In at Raj Bhavan Ceremony in Guwahati
Guwahati, July 29, 2024 — In a significant ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, three newly-appointed vice-chancellors formally took their oaths of office. The event, presided over by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, marked an important milestone for higher education in Assam.
Governor Kataria administered the oaths to Professor Nani Gopal Mahanta, the new Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, who will lead Rabindranath Tagore University, and Dhanapati Deka, appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Bhattadev University.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, who emphasized the significance of the appointments for the academic landscape of the state. Minister Pegu expressed his confidence in the new vice-chancellors’ abilities to lead their institutions towards greater academic excellence and innovation.
