Assam: Three-Year-Old Girl Drowned in Cachar
Guwahati, 2nd May: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Cachar as three-year-old Ritika Shuklabaidya tragically drowned in the Jiri River, a tributary of the Barak River. The tragedy struck as she played on the riverbanks near her home and accidentally slipped into the water.
Despite the valiant efforts of locals, including rescue attempts, the young girl could not be saved. Prompt responses from both police and SDRF teams initiated a thorough rescue operation.
After hours of relentless search efforts, the SDRF located the girl’s body approximately three kilometers downstream. The Cachar police swiftly transported her remains to Silchar Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
This devastating occurrence has enveloped the community in sorrow, prompting deep reflection on safety measures along the riverside.
