Assam Tightens Security at India-Bangladesh Border Amid Rising Tensions
Guwahati, 10th August: Amid escalating tensions along the India-Bangladesh border, authorities in Assam’s Karimganj district have intensified security measures to prevent any potential incidents of violence. District Commissioner Mridul Yadav confirmed that the region is on high alert, with efforts focused on ensuring peace and stability.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has significantly increased its presence in the area, now bolstered by an additional army company. This move underscores the gravity of the situation, as authorities respond to the volatile circumstances with heightened vigilance.
In a significant development, the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the border has been shut down since Monday, leading to a complete halt in import-export activities and the movement of people across the border. This closure, enforced since last week, has effectively blocked the return of Indian students and citizens from Bangladesh, reflecting the strict measures in place to maintain security.
The situation remains closely monitored, with authorities committed to preventing any unrest and ensuring the safety of the region’s residents.
