Assam: Tinsukia Sees Significant Political Realignment as Over 50 Leaders Join Congress
Guwahati: In a notable development within the political landscape of Tinsukia district, a substantial number of leaders and workers, exceeding fifty, from diverse political affiliations, transitioned to the Congress party.
This significant shift occurred during an organisational assembly convened at Khatangpani, situated within the Inthem Gaon Panchayat under the Margherita Constituency, on Sunday, March 23.
The organisational meeting, orchestrated by the Inthem Mandal Congress Committee, witnessed the participation of prominent Congress officials. Among them were Tara Prasad Dehingia, president of the Margherita Block Congress Committee, and Khageswar Deori, the committee’s general secretary. The event further saw the presence of Dimeswar Baruah, president of the Inthem Mandal Congress Committee, and Wilson Topno, the committee’s general secretary.
This mass induction is viewed as a strategic move by the Congress party to reinforce its foundational support, particularly as the region prepares for the upcoming panchayat and Assembly elections. Party representatives have emphasized the importance of this development, interpreting it as an indication of increasing support for the Congress within the locality.
