Assam: TMC Outlines Comprehensive Agenda for Bodoland Territorial Region Development
Guwahati, 22nd April: In a significant press conference convened at the TMC’s election headquarters in Gossaigaon, Assam, Ripun Bora, the TMC Assam state president, tackled pressing concerns concerning the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Bora delineated nine pivotal issues affecting the region, urging concerted action both within and outside Parliament.
Bora’s discourse traversed a spectrum of critical topics, commencing with advocacy for equal rights, equitable development, and political and land rights for all communities domiciled in the BTR. He underscored the necessity of fostering trust and communal harmony among the diverse populace of the region.
A focal point of Bora’s address was the call for a constitutional solution to halt alleged harassment faced by individuals through the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and D voters. Additionally, he pressed for expedited redressal of citizens’ grievances through a dedicated 24-hour helpline and grievance cell administered by Members of Parliament.
Prioritizing healthcare accessibility, Bora advocated for the deployment of mobile medical services to furnish first aid to residents in remote areas. He also underscored the urgent requirement for clean drinking water infrastructure and strategies to mitigate human-elephant conflicts, which have bedeviled the region for years.
Economic empowerment occupied a central position in Bora’s agenda, with a focus on bolstering local industries such as looms, handicrafts, animal husbandry, and poultry farming. He proposed the establishment of markets offering fair prices, particularly benefitting women entrepreneurs.
In addressing concerns over education and employment, Bora championed the establishment of affordable coaching centers for skill development and government job recruitment. Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of improved irrigation facilities and subsidized solar panels to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable energy practices.
Concluding his remarks, Bora urged the electorate to throw their weight behind TMC candidate Gaurishankar Sharania for the No. 1 Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, underscoring the importance of electing representatives dedicated to addressing the region’s pressing issues.
