In a social media announcement on June 27, Sarma detailed plans to invest over Rs 4,000 crore in the construction of 500 modern government schools across Assam.

“I am pleased to announce that we are investing over Rs 4,000 crore to build 500 state-of-the-art government schools in Assam,” Chief Minister Sarma affirmed in his online statement.

Today, Sarma personally inspected a proposed school site in Changsari, Assam, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing educational facilities statewide.

Earlier this month, on June 23, Sarma had outlined a comprehensive plan to upgrade 500 schools across Assam. “I reviewed the infrastructural development of schools in Assam. In the first phase, we are upgrading 500 schools across the state with an investment of Rs 8 crore per school, the highest-ever allocation for school infrastructure development in Assam,” he stated.

In addition to focusing on school infrastructure, Chief Minister Sarma underscored the importance of skill development during his visit to the under-construction campus of Assam Skill University in Mangaldai. This upcoming institution aims to offer courses aligned with current industry demands, including AI, Data Science, and Financial Services.
