Guwahati, 10th December: In a distressing incident, a youth reportedly committed self-immolation in Guwahati’s Bhetapara area on December 9, leaving witnesses in shock.
The tragic event unfolded in the evening when the youth arrived in Jilmil Nagar, Bhetapara, in a tempo and proceeded to set himself on fire. Onlookers were horrified by the sudden and drastic act.
Suffering severe burn injuries, the youth succumbed to the self-inflicted flames.
Eyewitnesses reported that the individual poured an inflammable substance on himself before igniting the fire.
The deceased has been identified as Aminul Islam, a tempo driver by profession, known for operating the tempo with the registration number AS 01 JC 2546.
As of now, the motive behind this distressing incident remains unknown, raising questions about the factors that might have led to such a tragic outcome.
Authorities are likely to conduct an investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the self-immolation.
