Assam: Trains Chug Back to Life as Landslide Woes End in Dima Hasao

Guwahati: Normalcy was restored to rail connectivity across Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and Assam’s Barak Valley on July 4, following the successful repair of tracks in Dima Hasao district that were hit by a landslide. The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) announced that services on the crucial Lumding-Badarpur hill section recommenced in the morning, much to the relief of stranded passengers.

The first train to navigate the newly cleared section was the 12520 (Agartala–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus) Express, signalling the complete resumption of operations. The disruption, which occurred on Thursday evening, saw massive boulders obstruct the tracks between Dihakho and Mupa stations.

NFR personnel worked tirelessly through the night to clear the debris and ensure the safety of the line, enabling the swift restoration of services. During the disruption, essential provisions like food and water were provided to passengers affected by the halt in services. All trains that had been rescheduled or held at various points have now resumed their onward journeys as per their original timings.
