According to reports, during the reconstruction exercise, Shobdokar attempted to escape by disarming a police officer. After seizing the officer’s rifle, Shobdokar ignored warnings and continued to resist arrest. In response, police fired a warning shot into the air. When Shobdokar persisted in his defiance, officers fired another shot, injuring him in the leg.
Following the incident, Shobdokar was promptly apprehended and transported to Silchar Medical College for treatment. Authorities have emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and assess the actions taken by the police.
This incident follows the tragic death of Constable Bora, who was struck and killed by a truck during a police operation in Churaibari, Assam.
