Guwahati: Two persons were arrested for allegedly being involved in the theft of two-wheelers by the Guwahati police in Barpeta District of Assam on Monday.
The accused were identified as Nayanjyoti Kakoti and Motiur Rahman and the incident took place at the Jania of the district.
According to reports, they had been stealing two-wheelers from Guwahati and from various parts of Assam and selling them in the remote areas of Barpeta.
The officials further informed that at least five stolen bikes has been recovered from the accused.
The news was shared by the official Twitter account of the Guwahati police.
The Guwahati police tweeted, ” The Special Squad from GPD Crime Branch launched an Operation at Jonia in Barpeta and netted 2 notorious bike lifters – Nayanjyoti Kakoti & Motiur Rahman. 5 stolen bikes were recovered from their possession.
Further investigation is underway.
