Guwahati: Two smugglers were arrested by the Assam Police and gold bars weighing two kilograms were seized from Morigaon district on Tuesday.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Safikul Islam and Mafidul Islam.
Based on a tip off, the duo was apprehended at a checkpoint on National Highway-37.
According to reports, they were coming from Sonitpur to sell the gold.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against them and further investigation into the matter is underway.
