Assam: Two Brothers Convicted for Sibling’s Murder in Land Dispute
Guwahati, June 7: In a landmark ruling, District and Sessions Judge B K Nath handed down a significant verdict today, sentencing Mohar Khan and Babul Khan to life rigorous imprisonment for the murder of their brother, Baten Khan, in Kokila village. Additionally, the court levied a fine of Rs 50,000 on each convict, with an additional three-month jail term stipulated if the fine remains unpaid.
The culmination of session case 22/2016 follows a violent altercation on October 21, 2013, rooted in a contentious land dispute. Mohar and Babul Khan perpetrated the fatal assault on Baten Khan in front of his residence, resulting in his tragic demise.
Representing the prosecution, Advocate Chandan Sharma meticulously argued the case against the accused. The court’s verdict underscores the severity of the crime and signifies a pursuit of justice on behalf of the victim.
This ruling brings closure to a protracted trial process, offering solace to those affected by the heartrending events that transpired over a decade ago.
