Guwahati: Assam police detained two fraudsters who were acting as CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) agents in the Karimganj district on Thursday night.
The two people who were taken into custody has been identified as Rashid Ahmed and Diluyar Hussain.
As per reports, the pair called the complainant on the phone and introduced themselves as CBI officers before demanding Rs 2 lakh.
Reportedly, after the complainant informed the authorities, the police acted quickly and detained the suspects.
Moreover, Rashid was taken into custody at the district’s Patarkandi town, whereas Diluyar was apprehended in the Ratabari area.
Meanwhile, a case was opened under the appropriate provisions against the two people who were arrested.
However, further investigation is on regarding the incident.
