Assam: Two held for Deer Poaching in Bahbari Pathar

Guwahati, 3rd July: In a decisive operation, Behali Police, in collaboration with Forest Officials, apprehended two individuals in Bahbari Pathar village for deer poaching. The suspects were detained while consuming the poached deer.

The arrests came after a coordinated response to a tip-off received by local authorities. The individuals are being charged under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, which carries severe penalties for poaching and the illegal trade of wildlife.

Officials discovered the poached deer in the possession of the accused, who were preparing and consuming it at the time of their arrest. This swift action highlights the commitment of the police and forest department to protecting wildlife and enforcing conservation laws.

The arrested individuals will face legal proceedings as mandated by the Wildlife Protection Act. Authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to combating poaching and preserving the region’s biodiversity.
