Guwahati: A major success in counter insurgency operations was achieved by the police officials in Tinsukia district of Assam when two minor active cadres of the militant outfit NSCN-IM has been apprehended on Sunday.
The apprehended militants have been identified as Jongo Sen Khasa (16) and Noglet Nangpa (13).
Based on a tip-off, the duo has been arrested from Tinsukia Railway Station.
The police officials further seized two HK rifles, two IEDs, 283 rounds of live ammunition, three ATM cards and three mobile phones from their possession.
According to reports, the duo was also involved in extortion activities in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
However, the operation to nab more cadres is still underway.
