Assam: ULFA-I extends its ceasefire for another 3 months

Guwahati: The United Liberation Front of Assam- Independent (ULFA-I) has extended the current unilateral ceasefire for another three months on Sunday.

The statement is released by ULFA-I Commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah

According to sources, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had already raised the issue of discussions with the ULFA-I with the Prime Minister and others.

The banned group had announced a three-month extension of its unilateral ceasefire, which had been announced in May of this year, citing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Barua in a statement said that the COVID-19 prompted the ULFA-I to unilaterally cease all military operations in the state for another three months with immediate effect. The ceasefire was first announced on May 15 this year for three months.
