Assam: ULFA-I Responds to DGP GP Singh’s Remarks, Accuses Him of Misdeeds
Guwahati, 29th October: The banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) has responded to the comments made by Assam’s Director General of Police, Gyanendra Prasad Singh, and accused him of misdeeds within his department.
DGP GP Singh had urged the youth not to sacrifice their lives for an authoritarian organization, referring to the execution of two young ULFA-I cadres, Abinash Kalita (Vibhakar Kalita) and Tanmoy Bora. Singh emphasized that such actions had no value.
In response, ULFA-I stated that one of the cadres, Pranab Asom, had escaped from the camp along with another member on September 17, 2022, but they were detained and later shot by ULFA-I members, with the organization acknowledging responsibility for the incident.
ULFA-I accused DGP GP Singh of not addressing issues such as fake encounters, sexual assault by police, physical abuse, fake gold and drug trades by police, money laundering, and suicides among police personnel. They urged him to focus on cleaning up and making his department transparent.
The outfit also called on the senior police not to interfere in their issues by making bold statements against ULFA-I in the media. They mentioned past instances where they alleged Singh’s involvement in orchestrating the murder of six young men during the CAB/Anti-CAA movement and urged him to reflect on his actions, particularly in the case of SI Junmoni Rabha, and work towards providing justice to the bereaved mother.
