Assam: ULFA-I Linkman Arrested In Demow In Massive Operation Ahead Of I-Day
Guwahati: With Independence Day approaching, security has been increased in several parts of Assam in response to the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent’s-(ULFA-I) call for Bandh.
After the ULFA-I declared a bandh on August 15, police suspect the banned militant group of disrupting the festive atmosphere and causing law and order problems.
Reportedly, the Demow police in the Sivsagar district of Assam conducted large-scale operations to identify and eliminate disruptive elements ahead of the country’s Independence Day.
As per reports, a massive police-paramilitary operations were carried out in Demow under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Subhjyoti Bora at Rupohibam and Nabil.
However, the operations were carried out after police received information about the presence of three ULFA-I cadres in the area and they were able to apprehend one of the suspects and additionally Mohendra Baruah has been identified as the accused.
Moreover, police suspect Baruah has ties with the banned militant organisation. He is being held at Demow Police Station.
