Guwahati: In a truly horrifying incident that has left the Samaguri area of Nagaon district reeling, a seven-year-old girl tragically lost her life after allegedly being thrown into the Kolong River by her maternal uncle.

The victim, identified as Gouri Priya Das from Barhola village in Kathiatoli, was reportedly enjoying her school holidays at her maternal relatives’ home in Chamguri’s Khatual Borbheti when the unthinkable occurred.

The accused, Bikash Das, who is said to be working with the Health Department, allegedly committed this heinous act on July 25. The day began with Gouri’s father, accompanied by two uncles and her grandfather, arriving to take her back home.

However, in a shocking turn, eyewitnesses recounted how Bikash Das, without warning, picked up the child, walked to the riverbank, and, under still mysterious circumstances, threw her into the swirling waters of the Kolong.
