Assam: Union Government Authorizes Rs 72,961.21 Crore Tax Devolution Ahead of New Year

Guwahati, 22nd December: In preparation for the upcoming festivities and the New Year, the Union Government has sanctioned an additional installment of tax devolution amounting to Rs 72,961.21 crore.

This move aims to empower state governments in funding various social welfare initiatives and infrastructure development schemes. Assam leads among northeastern states, receiving the highest additional installment of Rs 2282.24 crore, while Sikkim receives the lowest.

Other northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura, have also benefited from this financial boost, contributing to their developmental initiatives.

This installment supplements the tax devolution due on January 10, 2024, and the Rs 72,961.21 crore released on December 11, 2023, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting state-level development.
