Guwahati: The Assam University campus in Silchar will soon include a war museum.
The Assam University Executive Council has already given its approval and earmarked cash for the construction of the war museum on the university’s campus in Silchar.
The registrar of the University in a letter to Brigadier Joshi Narain Dutt Ganesh Dutt Director Directorate of Sainik Welfare, wrote, “Pleased to inform you that the Executive Council of the University approved and allocated fund for establishment of war museum at Assam University, Silchar Campus.”
The letter further read, “Therefore, I take the opportunity to request you to kindly direct your office to take necessary steps in setting up the war museum at the earliest.”
The registrar further stated in the letter that the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Government of Assam, account would be used for any expenses related to the subject.
However, it has not yet been officially announced what will be there in the museum. It might resemble a war memorial or it might be a special structure filled with artefacts from conflicts in which the nation has taken part.
