Guwahati, 27th March: Amidst Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge for a corruption-free government and the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Pramod Boro’s UPPL party, allied with the BJP in Assam, faces scrutiny following a controversial incident.

A viral image depicting UPPL member Benjamin Basumatary, the VCDC chairman in Bhairaguri, Udalguri district, sleeping on stacks of Rs 500 currency notes has sparked outrage on social media, prompting widespread condemnation.

The UPPL party, which had publicly vowed to uphold integrity and combat corruption, now finds itself embroiled in controversy as the purported photo draws attention ahead of the impending elections.
