Assam: Violent Clash Over Relief Distribution Leaves One Seriously Injured in Karimganj

Guwahati, 24th June: A violent altercation over the distribution of relief materials erupted in Karimganj district, resulting in one man being seriously injured. The victim, Abdul Hakim, sustained severe injuries and was initially admitted to Karimganj Hospital. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was later transferred to a hospital in Silchar for advanced treatment.

The conflict began when Abdul Hakim’s son discovered that lentils and oil they were transporting from the Sadar Chakra Adhikari’s office for Ward No. 9 of Maizgram GP were missing. The situation escalated when a local resident, Khasrul Haque, questioned the discrepancy, leading to heightened tensions.

The altercation turned violent when a group led by Mustaq attacked Abdul Hakim. The attackers have been identified as Mustaq Uddin, Jubel Ahmed, Fazal Uddin, Sonuhar Ali, Babul Uddin, and Azar Uddin.

A case has been registered at Sadar police station against the accused individuals. The police have launched an investigation into the incident to uncover the details and motivations behind the violent clash.
