Assam: Voters Head to Polls for Bongaigaon Assembly Bye-Election, Amid High Hopes and Changing Political Landscape

Bongaigaon— The bye-election for the Bongaigaon Assembly constituency kicked off today at 7 am, drawing a steady stream of voters across polling stations. With 1,82,354 eligible voters, this election will decide the future representative from a pool of eight candidates, including Congress nominee Brajenjit Singha.

Singha, accompanied by his family, was among the early voters at the No. 7 Popragaon LP School polling station. After casting his ballot, he expressed confidence about his prospects, stating, “The Bongaigaon constituency is no longer a stronghold of the AGP. The party is now divided, and I am confident that the people will choose me to represent them.”

Singha’s remarks underscore the evolving political landscape in Bongaigaon, where increased campaign activity reflects a potentially shifting voter sentiment. Polling officials have reported a consistent turnout, suggesting high engagement as constituents take to the polls.

With the election outcome likely to impact the regional balance of power, local residents and political observers are watching closely as voting progresses.
