Assam Water Resources Department Cracks Down on Job Appointment Hoax

Guwahati: A fabricated message circulating on social media platforms about permanent job appointments in the Assam Water Resources Department has sparked widespread confusion and concern among contractual employees and the general public. The message falsely claimed that MR (Muster Roll) employees would receive permanent appointment letters on May 20 at the department’s head office.

Responding swiftly to the misinformation, the department’s Chief Engineer, Bhaskar Sarma, has filed a formal complaint at Basistha Police Station. He is urging authorities to take stringent legal action against the individuals responsible for spreading the hoax.

Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika has strongly refuted the claims via social media, affirming that the department had issued no such notification. He condemned the incident and urged the public not to be misled by fraudulent communications.

The department has reiterated its commitment to transparency, assuring that all employment-related information will be communicated through legitimate, authorized platforms. The minister stated, “No new appointments have been announced by the department. Any updates will be shared only through official government channels.”

The public is advised to rely on official government channels for information on job appointments and other departmental updates. The department’s swift action aims to prevent further misinformation and ensure that job seekers are not misled by false claims.
