Assam: Wild Bison Attack Leaves Two Injured in Bijni

Assam: Panic gripped the residents of Abadipara in Bijni late last night when a wild bison, believed to have strayed from Manas National Park, attacked locals, leaving two individuals injured.

The victims have been identified as Purnima Roy of Abadipara and Mohar Ali of Daspara, Bhawraguri. Purnima Roy sustained significant injuries and has been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while Mohar Ali is reportedly receiving medical attention for minor wounds.

The animal, suspected to have wandered from the India-Bhutan border region of Manas National Park, ventured into the Abadipara and Bhawraguri areas, causing widespread fear among residents. Locals reported hearing loud commotion as the bison moved through residential spaces, leaving people scrambling for safety.

In response to the incident, forest department officials and local police arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Efforts are currently underway to drive the wild bison back into the forested area while ensuring the safety of residents. Authorities have urged locals to remain vigilant and avoid venturing out at night until the animal is safely relocated.
