Assam: Wild Deer Rescued in Baksa, Released Back Into Manas National Park

Guwahati: A wild deer that wandered into Rangthoibari village in Assam’s Baksa district was successfully rescued and returned to its natural habitat in Manas National Park. The incident, which took place under the jurisdiction of Simla police station, saw swift action from both local residents and forest officials.

Reports indicate that the deer had strayed out of the national park, likely in search of food or due to habitat disturbances. Upon spotting the animal in the village, concerned locals immediately informed the forest department, prompting a quick response from a specialized rescue team.

The rescue team carefully captured the deer and conducted a thorough health assessment to ensure it was unharmed. After confirming its well-being, forest officials transported the animal back to the dense forests of Manas National Park, where it was safely released.

The successful rescue highlights the growing awareness and cooperation between local communities and wildlife authorities in safeguarding Assam’s rich biodiversity. Such prompt actions not only protect straying animals but also help maintain the delicate balance between human habitation and wildlife conservation efforts.
