Assam: Wild Elephant Attack Claims Three Lives in Sonitpur District

Guwahati, 27th April: In a tragic incident in Assam’s Sonitpur district, three individuals, including two forest guards, lost their lives while another sustained critical injuries in an attack by a wild elephant.

According to a forest official, the attack occurred when a wild elephant ventured into Dhirai Majuli village from the nearby Dhekiajuli forest. During a routine patrol by forest personnel, the elephant trampled three individuals to death on the spot and injured another forest department employee.

The deceased have been identified as forest guards Koleswar Boro and Biren Rava, along with a local resident, Jatin Tanti. The injured person, Dibakar Malakar, has been hospitalized, with his condition described as critical.

Efforts are underway to safely push the elephant back into the forest to prevent further incidents.
