Assam: Wild Elephant Attack on National Highway Claims One Life, Leaves Two Injured
Guwahati, 29th May: A tragic incident unfolded on the national highway at Dharamtul in Jagiroad as wild elephants attacked vehicles, resulting in the death of one person and serious injuries to two others.
The deceased, identified as Nellie’s Prahlad Das, tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack, while biker Furkal Ali and truck driver Dipan Das sustained serious injuries.
The incident occurred when a group of elephants, straying from their natural habitat, began attacking bikes and trucks traveling along the highway. The sudden onslaught led to chaos as vehicles scrambled to evade the charging elephants.
Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of panic as the elephants charged at vehicles, causing significant damage and disruption along the highway.
Authorities have issued warnings to motorists, urging them to exercise extreme caution when traveling through areas known for elephant activity. Increased vigilance and adherence to safety protocols are advised to mitigate the risk of further incidents.
