Assam: Wild Elephant Invades Balipara Sand Dunes, Locals Fear for Safety

Balipara, Sonitpur: Panic gripped the residents of Balipara on Thursday morning as a wild elephant ventured into the local sand dune field. This isn’t the first time the area has faced such an intrusion, leading to mounting frustration among the community.

Despite repeated attempts by locals to drive the elephant away, the animal remains undeterred. The absence of forest department officials at the scene has further compounded the issue, leaving residents feeling helpless and exposed.

“This is becoming a recurring nightmare,” lamented a local resident. “We’re constantly living in fear, and it seems like no one is taking effective action to address the problem.”

The increasing frequency of human-elephant conflict in the region underscores the urgent need for sustainable solutions that prioritize the safety of both wildlife and human populations. As the situation unfolds, the community anxiously awaits the intervention of forest authorities to resolve the crisis.
