Assam: Wild Mithun Sparks Fear in Golaghat’s Kabarugao

Guwahati, 20th June: Residents of Kabarugao in Assam’s Golaghat district are gripped with fear as a wild Mithun, also known as a Gayal, has wandered into residential areas from the nearby forest. The unexpected presence of this large animal has raised concerns about potential dangers and disruptions to daily life.

In response to the situation, the Forest Department has dispatched a team to Kabarugao. This team is closely monitoring the movements of the wild Mithun to evaluate the risk it poses to the community and to develop a strategy for its safe containment.

Additionally, authorities have notified the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Kaziranga to provide assistance in managing the wild animal. The Centre’s expertise and resources are being leveraged to ensure that the Mithun is safely returned to its natural habitat without causing harm or further distress to the residents.
