Assam withdraws FIR against Mizoram MP
Guwahati: Days after the Assam-Mizoram border dispute, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a discussion has directed the state police to withdraw FIR against Mizo National Front Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena.
However, CM added that cases against some Mizoram Police officers will not be withdrawn.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a telephonic discussion with both the CMs of Assam and Mizoram about the clash that took place on July 26 and asked to resolve the issue peacefully.
After the talks, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga on Twitter requested the people of Mizoram not to post any sensitive content on social media.
CM Sarma in another tweet said, “Whatever happened on the border is not acceptable for the people of both the states. He further added, “Our main focus is on keeping the spirit of North East.”
A senior officer from Mizoram said that the withdrawal of Assam CM’s name from the FIR was the first step towards peace from Mizoram’s side.
