Assam Witnesses 27.34% Voter Turnout in Third Phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024
Guwahati, 7th May: Assam’s electoral landscape saw significant voter turnout in the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with an overall participation rate of 27.34% across its four constituencies as of 11:30 am.
Among these, Kokrajhar emerged as the frontrunner in voter engagement, boasting a turnout of 28.28%, closely followed by Dhubri with 27.77%. Barpeta secured the third position with 27.19%, while Guwahati recorded a slightly lower participation rate at 26.25%.
The active engagement of voters underscores the importance of citizen participation in shaping the democratic process during this critical phase of the elections.
However, amidst the electoral fervor, a technical malfunction in an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was reported at the Beltola High School polling booth in Guwahati. The glitch occurred after approximately 400 votes had been cast, leading to the temporary suspension of voting at the affected polling booth until the issue is resolved.
