Assam Witnesses 45.88% Voter Turnout in Third Phase of Lok Sabha Polls; Dhubri Leads with 47.73%
Guwahati, 7th May: As the Lok Sabha elections progressed into the third phase in Assam on Tuesday, the four constituencies in the state recorded a notable voter turnout of 45.88% by 1 pm, according to officials.
Dhubri emerged with the highest turnout of 47.73%, followed closely by Barpeta at 46.83%, Kokrajhar at 46.43%, and Guwahati at 42.13%. The polling commenced at 7 am and is scheduled to continue until 5 pm.
The significant turnout underscores the active engagement of voters in shaping the democratic process during this crucial phase of the elections, reflecting the electorate’s commitment to exercising their franchise.
However, amidst the electoral fervor, a technical malfunction in an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at the Beltola High School polling booth in Guwahati raised concerns. Reports indicate that the glitch occurred after approximately 400 votes had been cast in the EVM, prompting temporary suspension of voting at the affected booth until the issue is resolved.
