Guwahati, 23rd December: In a significant anti-narcotics operation in Assam’s Silchar, law enforcement authorities seized a substantial consignment of heroin. The operation, conducted on Sonai Road in Silchar, was prompted by specific intelligence regarding a narcotics peddling gang in the area.
During the operation, five individuals, including a woman, were detained on charges of heroin peddling. The police confiscated nine soap cases filled with heroin, totaling approximately 306.51 grams. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the international illicit markets is several crores.
In addition to the heroin seizure, the police also impounded a motorcycle belonging to the alleged peddlers. The detained individuals are now subject to further legal proceedings as investigations unfold.
