Assam: Woman Apprehended for Killing Mother-in-Law Over Land Dispute in Bongaigaon
Guwahati, 15th April: The vibrant festivities of Rongali Bihu were overshadowed by a tragic incident that unfolded in Jogighopa town, Bongaigaon district, on Sunday, April 14, sending shockwaves through the community.
The somber turn of events occurred in Bharalkundi 10th Block village, where Maryam Beowa met a gruesome fate at the hands of her daughter-in-law, allegedly over a land dispute.
The suspected assailant, identified as Sayeda, was promptly apprehended by Jogighopa police following the incident. Initial reports indicate that a heated altercation between the two individuals escalated into a fatal assault.
In the wake of the altercation, concerned local residents intervened, swiftly transporting the injured Maryam Beowa to Goalpara Hospital. Despite their valiant efforts, the medical team’s grim pronouncement upon her arrival shattered hopes of her survival.
