Assam Woman Arrested in Kerala for Allegedly Murdering Husband

Kerala Police have apprehended Zahida Khatun, a woman from Assam’s Cachar district, in connection with the brutal murder of her husband, Babul Hussain. Reports indicate that Khatun attacked Babul with a sharp object, inflicting a fatal throat wound before attempting to destroy evidence by pouring acid over his lifeless body.

Babul Hussain, originally from Moirabari in Assam’s Morigaon district, had moved to Kerala two months ago in search of employment opportunities, accompanied by Khatun, his second wife. Over a week, Babul’s first wife, who remained in Moirabari, grew increasingly concerned due to her inability to contact him. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach him, she sought help from his acquaintances and eventually contacted his landlord in Kerala.

Upon learning of Babul’s prolonged absence, the landlord decided to investigate the situation. Forcibly opening the door to Babul’s rented room, he was met with an overpowering stench. Inside, he discovered Babul’s decomposed body, which raised immediate alarm.

Following the grim discovery, authorities launched an investigation into the case, tracing Khatun’s whereabouts after the murder. It was soon established that she had fled to Cachar in Assam. Kerala Police, in collaboration with local law enforcement, successfully tracked her down and arrested her.

The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident and the motives behind Khatun’s alleged actions.
