Assam: Woman Forest Worker Found Dead in Kaziranga Quarters

Bokakhat: A pall of gloom has fallen over the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division of Kaziranga National Park following the mysterious death of a young female forest worker on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Dashami Duwara, a resident of Athkheliya in Golaghat district, was found dead in her quarters at the DFO office’s residential area in Bokakhat.

While the exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed, preliminary reports from the forest department hint at a possible case of suicide. The tragic discovery was made inside her allotted living quarters. The Bokakhat Police have since taken custody of the body for a post-mortem examination and have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.

Arun Vignesh, the Divisional Forest Officer of Kaziranga, acknowledged the unfortunate incident and stated that a departmental inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances that led to Duwara’s untimely demise. Duwara was an active member of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, an area that plays a crucial role in the conservation of Kaziranga, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its rich biodiversity and tireless conservation efforts. The department and the police are working together to piece together the events of that fateful day.
