Assam Woman Hospitalized After Assault in Delhi Under False Job Pretext
Guwahati, 22nd May: A woman from Assam is recovering in a hospital after being allegedly assaulted in Delhi under the guise of a job offer. The incident began when a man named Ajit promised her employment as a housemaid, prompting her to travel to the capital.
Upon her arrival, the woman, a resident of Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district, was taken to a residence where she was harassed and physically assaulted instead of being given a job. The victim was housed on the third floor of a building shared by an owner and his tenant.
According to the FIR, the ordeal escalated when the men began taking pictures and videos of her without consent. When she objected, an argument ensued, culminating in her falling from the third floor and sustaining multiple injuries to her head and hand.
The police were alerted to the situation, and a PCR vehicle quickly responded, rescuing the woman and transporting her to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for initial treatment. She was later transferred to Lok Nayak Hospital for further care.
Dr. Ghritashri Bhuyan Narula, Coordinator of the Special Police Unit for North East (SPUNER), New Delhi, confirmed the arrest of the tenant involved, while the primary suspect remains at large. The incident was reported from Bhalswa Dairy, under Outer Delhi Police Station, and an investigation is ongoing.
Authorities revealed that the woman was pushed from the third floor when she resisted the assault, leading to injuries on her left shoulder and head. The case has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of individuals traveling to cities under false job pretenses.
