Assam: Woman killed after tree falls on house in Barpeta
Guwahati: Assam was hit by heavy rains, and one woman was killed when a tree fell on her house in the state’s Barpeta district on Thursday.
The incident occurred in Assam’s Barpeta district, in the Jania Lurfuria village. An uprooted tree collapsed on the victim’s house during heavy rain, killing her.
Fuljan Nesa, 45, has been identified as the deceased woman.
The woman was killed, according to Habibullah, a member of the Jania Zila Parishad, when a tree uprooted and crashed on her house.
“It is a really tragic situation,” Habibullah was cited by ANI as saying. In several portions of the Jania area, numerous residences and properties were devastated.”
Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms lashed Kalgachia,Jania, Bhella, Lachanga, Gunialguri, and Balagaon areas of the district causing large scale damages to property and vehicles. Uprooted trees and electricity poles compounded on the inconvenience.
Moreover, in Srirampur, border of Assam and Bengal also a large number of houses damaged along with properties in the area.
