Assam: Woman Stabbed by Alleged Lover in Guwahati Succumbs to Injuries
Assam: A young woman, Mousumi Gogoi, who was stabbed by her alleged lover in Guwahati’s Last Gate area, succumbed to her injuries on December 26.
The incident occurred early in the morning when Gogoi was waiting outside her rented accommodation for a Rapido bike. A man in a Swift Dzire car approached her, attacked her with a knife, and fled the scene.
According to initial reports, Gogoi had filed a police complaint against her alleged lover, Bhupen Das, at Pan Bazar Police Station, fearing for her life.
She mentioned in the complaint that Das had threatened her with dire consequences. Das has since been arrested by police near Housing Complex in Guwahati.
Reports claim that Das also attempted to take his own life and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh confirmed the arrest on social media, stating that the assailant had inflicted self-stab wounds.
The police investigation has been aided by crucial evidence from CCTV footage, which has intensified scrutiny over the circumstances of the attack. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, with the newly uncovered footage playing a pivotal role in understanding the sequence of events. The attack has raised concerns about the increasing number of stabbing incidents in the city.
