Guwahati: A woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Assam’s Golaghat district in the wee hours on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Jyoti Tanti, a resident of Bahbariline of Morongi tea estate in the Bokial Beat.
According to reports, Tanti was on her way to take bath in Dhansiri river and was suddenly attacked by the wild elephant. She was mauled and killed by the elephant on the spot.
Her body was recovered by the local police and the forest officers.
Later, the deceased was taken to Swahid Kushal Konwar (SKK) Civil Hospital in Golaghat for a post-mortem.
