Guwahati, 7th February: A woman sustained severe injuries after her husband reportedly threw acidic substance on her in Dhubri district of Assam on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Bilasipara.
The accused, identified as Azarul Sheikh, allegedly carried out the attack as a vengeful act amid personal conflicts with his wife.
Azarul, a resident of Bangalipara, allegedly targeted his wife’s face with acid, causing severe injuries that required hospitalization. Following the incident, the victim was admitted to a local hospital before being transferred to Kokrajhar for advanced medical care.
Meanwhile, the accused man is currently on the run, evading authorities after committing the heinous crime, as per sources.
The incident underscores the urgent need for effective measures to combat gender-based violence and protect individuals from such horrendous acts.
