Assam: Worm Found in “Maaza” Packet in Kenduguri Raises Food Safety Concerns

Guwahati, 6th June: A disturbing incident unfolded in the Kenduguri area of Bajali district when a local customer made a shocking discovery in a fruit drink packet, igniting serious concerns about food safety standards.

The unsettling incident transpired when a customer purchased a Rs 10 “Maaza” packet from a nearby store. Upon consuming half of the drink, the customer detected something unusual. Upon closer inspection, to their horror, a worm emerged from the packet upon pressing it.

Swiftly responding to the alarming situation, the customer promptly reported the incident to the shopkeeper, who, in turn, notified the Food and Civil Supplies Department.

This unsettling revelation has sent ripples of unease through the local community, prompting urgent questions about the quality control measures employed in the production and packaging of “Maaza.” Demands for immediate action and a thorough review of food safety protocols have emerged among concerned residents, underscoring the imperative need to prevent similar occurrences and uphold stringent standards of food safety and hygiene.
