Assam: Youth allegedly killed by JCB excavator in West Bengal
Guwahati, 29th December: A youth from Assam’s Kokrajhar district met a mysterious death in West Bengal, sparking unrest in the border region.
The youth has been identified as Amir Hossain Miya.
Amir, a stone boulder businessman, was allegedly killed by a JCB excavator operator from West Bengal during a heated argument at around 4.30 pm.
Following the incident, Amir died on the spot, as reported by family members.
The Bengal Police recovered the body and transported it to Kamakhyaguri in Alipurduar district, where a doctor officially declared him dead.
The accused identified as Mrinal alias Mridul, remains at large, prompting the All Assam Minority Students’ Union to call for a thorough investigation into the alleged murder.
Local speculation suggests that the dispute revolved around payment for stone boulders.
Amir’s uncle conveyed that after a disagreement over payment, Amir was attacked from behind with the JCB excavator by Mridul. An appeal for justice and compensation for Amir’s wife and one-year-old daughter has been made, adding gravity to the incident.
