Guwahati: Assam Police has arrested a youth for allegedly being involved in violation of Copyright Act in Tinsukia district of Assam.
The youth has been identified as Montu Deka.
According to reports, Deka has been arrested from Borguri in Tinsukia.
Reportedly, Deka published numerous books in digital form on his website www.digitaltinsukia.in without first obtaining the publishers’ consent.
Deka had published about 5000 books in the website.
He worked for the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development.
The Assam Publications and Sellers Association filed a complaint against Deka at the Panbazar Police Station in Guwahati. They have urged the police to take the necessary steps to take immediate steps to nab the culprits.
According to sources, there could be more persons involved in the case, however, their identities are yet to be ascertained.
